Yes in real life fuel explodes but not in the way it is shown in WT, in WT the plane explodes like it had HE in it not fuel, the plane will blow to pieces the wings will fall off and parts will fly everywhere , there is no fire ball and the plane irl would still be intact in a sense even after the fuel explosion, the wings wont immediately fall of and the fuselage wont be blown up to pieces.
